Rott, Elsen Homers Lead Rays Alums

The snow and cold are locked in for another week here in Wisconsin, but week 3 of college baseball happened in places not named Wisconsin.  Many former GRB Rays had great weeks both in the midweek games and weekend series for their respective teams. Here is a run down of some of the performances of those who have donned the GRB logo in the past.

Jack Eagan (2016) put together a great relief appearance for Mississippi State this week striking out 2, allowing nothing else in his one inning of work versus Southeastern Louisiana.  For the year Jack is now sporting a 1.93 ERA with 8 strikeouts in 4 ⅔ innings. Eagan has only allowed 2 hits and one base on balls thus far.

Rudy Rott (2015) continued on with more of the consistent hitting that he has produced in his collegiate career for Ohio.  For the weekend, Rott went 4-for-12 with a double, a home run, and 4 RBIs.

Connor Wollersheim (2015) threw a complete game in the front half of a double header.  Again, Wollersheim was not given the offense needed, as he allowed just one run and struck out 6, allowing a walk.  For the year, Wollersheim has a 1.02 ERA, allowing 15 hits in 17 ⅔ innings, with 8 walks to his 20 strikeouts.

The rest of the Kent State crew hailing from GRB made their impacts.  Ben Carew (2016) is leading the Kent State offense with a .382 clip.  Carew went 6-for-20 in the 5 games Kent State took the field this week.

Pete Schuler (2015) has hit safely in his last 6 games.  This week, Schuler went 6-for-19 for the Golden Flashes.

Nick Elsen (2017) went 3-for-14 on the week, but one of those swings was a round tripper.

Kian O’Brien (2015) went 1-for-5 on the week.

Ryan Schmitt (2016) is still sporting a 0.00 ERA after ⅔ of an inning this week.  For the year, Schmitt has went 3 ⅔ innings of shutout ball for the Illini.

Sam Lund (2014) went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, and struck out 3 for Bradley.

Joe Acker (2016) went 2-for-5 in two games for Nebraska, who upset national ranked #3 Texas Tech.  Acker is hitting .375 for the Cornhuskers on the season.

Logan Michaels (2016) is hitting .533 on the year for the Virginia Cavaliers.  Michaels has been getting a good portion of the catching time for the Hoos.

Aaron Mutter (2016) pitched to a no decision in Winona States 10-7 win over Maryville.

Trent Bauer (2016) had a 2-for-10 weekend and is currently hitting .286 for the Western Illinois Leathernecks.

Grant Frazer (2016) had a scoreless outing for Central Michigan.

Jack Collins (2016) also put together a scoreless outing for the Chippewas.

Zach Gilles (2016) is hitting .412 and had 5 hits on the weekend in the 3 hole for Central Michigan.

Connor Rutherford (2015) went 4-for-11 on the weekend for Lewis versus Upper Iowa.

Ryan Venne (2018) is hitting .245 for Lindenwood, and had 2 hits this week.Colten Schild  (2018) hit in the 1 and 2 hole all weekend for Saint Louis and notched 2 hits.
