Former GRB Rays player and current Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen has been named a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award in the American League. Jansen, a 16th round pick out of Appleton West High School in 2013, made his Major League debut in August of last season.
Jansen, a catcher for the Rays in 2013, recently finished his rookie season with the Blue Jays where he hit .207 in 107 games. Jansen finished 10th among American League catchers with 13 home runs. Jansen slugged .360 for the season.
Defensively, Jansen compiled a .995 fielding percentage while throwing out 31.1% of would-be base stealers. Jansen committed only four errors in 854 total chances, placing him third among qualified catchers.
